Wonder of wonders!! It's been a long time coming but welcome to my new Barry Mackie Art web page. Many thanks to Kelly Logan from i4design for having the patience to put this project together while dealing with a confirmed Luddite. I would recommend Kelly's services to any artist who is considering a similar move.
Hopefully I can make this art journal at least mildly interesting - and perhaps generate some discussion about art.
My intention is to try and document the process I go through to complete the paintings and also inform readers about what motivated me to paint the subjects.
I have been painting for close to 35 years and have a particular love of the Australian landscape. I also like to try to tell stories through my paintings. And I'm particularly drawn to subjects associated with our early pioneering days. Australia's iconic swagmen will often make an appearance, as will drovers with sheep and cattle. I also enjoy doing reproductions of the paintings of some of our early Australian impressionists and these can be commissioned by contacting me. Images of some of those reproductions that I have done previously are shown on the web site.
I also have the privilege of now living in the Mountain Country of Western Australia's great southern region so many of my paintings reflect this area.
I am looking forward to making contact through this page with as many people as possible and sharing our love of painting.
